Help Save Guiding Light!

With CBS’s decision to no longer air Guiding Light, the longest running US daytime soap opera, after Sept 18, 2009, we devoted GL viewers are fighting to keep the LIGHT Guiding the way for the future of daytime soap operas by supporting the search for its new home. For 72 years this show has captivated audiences, via radio and television, and that will not be so easily dismissed. It is a multigenerational broadcast legacy that must be saved.

Even though CBS has not renewed their contract with the show, Proctor & Gamble/Telenext, the owners of the show, are actively looking for a new home for GL. They need our voices to be heard and counted so they can show the continued validity and demand this show still has. In the past year and a half, GL has reinvented itself in a new and exciting way. The hard work and dedication the creative team has put into this project needs to be applauded and encouraged to continue. This genre will die unless we who love it stand up and demand its salvation.

The Otalia fans are stepping up and leading the way. Daily campaign activities, guidance and information is being distributed at the Big Purple Dreams fan forum - http://z8.invisionfree.com/otaliafans/.

Here's a list of the main activities we are suggesting as ways people can help:

- Please call 866.695.1859 during business hours. It is an automated menu and announcement that lets you register your support of the show and its search for a new home. Just press 1, 1 and your done. Call often!

- Sign these petitions - http://www.thepetitionsite.com/1/keep-guiding-light-on-air...http://tvseriesfinale.com/articles/guiding-light-petition/

- Watch the show online daily at http://www.cbs.com/daytime/guiding_light/. It also airs on cbs tv, but, unless you have a Nielson box, watching online is your only way of being counted as a viewer.
